As an out of stater from Illinois, not Cook County, any provisions on owning or possessing a SKS with a detachable magazine?

I did some quick reading and it looks like Cook County is the sticky area.

Anything unusual about owning this combination?

From the state in general, nothing prohibiting it.   The concern might be the handful of Chicago suburban municipalities that have an "AWB" ban or a mag capacity limit..
