In town for a little business, but looking for THE place to go to get a steak. I’ll be making this visit 2-3 time a year, and could use some recommendations by people who know the best places to eat.
I’m here until 29 APR. Had drinks at P.S. Speakeasy tonight. What do you recommend? Thanks for the hospitality! |

Kc and out west or other areas, not so much... |

Downtown KC. I’m staying in the Power & Light district this week. Attending meetings in Leavenworth.
I heard the Chop House and Yard House are good to go. |

The Majestic off Broadway is a good place.

View Quote 801 Chop House is excellent. I can't say that it's the best in town. But it's damn good! Yard House is good, but a craft burger and craft beer place. Since you're staying downtown, hit up Jazz and Q39 on 39th Street. Capital Grille Antons near the Crossroads Jess & Jims Steakhouse ETA: Gordon Ramsey's steakhouse at Harrah's Casino. |

Pierpont's, Golden Ox, Hereford House, Stock Hill, 801 Chophouse, Capital Grille is kind a chain but I thought it was good. The Majestic is supposed to be good, but I have not tried it.
There is Jess and Jims, but I didn't think much of them. Since you will be in Kansas City, it will be a good opportunity for proper BBQ. ![]() |

I think the people that own the brewery own it and IMO, they barely know how to run a brewery. |

I would like to try The Majestic out, that dry aged prime rib eye sounds delicious! Not too far from the Power & Light area. The Majestic |

All of the good casinos have a quality steak house; Argosy, Harrahs and Ameristar.
Check their hours and days of operation. Hard to beat Q39 for bbq stuff, as already mentioned. Great food for a fair price. |

It was good even though it was re heated. |

I was not impressed at all by the Majestic, Anton's was good however. My favorite downtown is Farina or Extra Virgin both owned and ran my Michael Smith. They are not "steak houses" but have steak and other outstanding food. Q39 is legit too for BBQ, totally recommend. Haven't been to 801 so can't say. Big recommend for Grunauer in the frieghthouse as well, the charcuterie plate is excellent.

I appreciate all of the comments!! I think I may splurge and hit Chophouse and Majestic this week to spend my per diem. Maybe try some bourbons I can’t get in Tennessee.
Y’all are awesome! |

The Yard House was great! Enjoyed a pepper crusted filet and a few of the Petra’s Cherry Chocolate Nitro Quad Belgians while watching the Memphis Grizzlies defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Off to 810 Chop House tomorrow! Maybe visit a casino on Thursday to see if I can take some money home with me.. Great hospitality here in KC. I’ll be back! |

810 Chophouse was great. Priced to be a Birthday/Anniversary/Special Occasion restaurant, but delicious!
Waiter gave me a Graduate-level education on all of the cuts of beef they offered, dry aging process, and the litany of steak toppings. I went with the 12oz filet with the bone marrow butter. A few Old Fashioned cocktails, and I was living. Definitely going to come back here on my next trip west! Many thanks for all of the input and suggestions! |

If you want to mix it up sometime, try Grünauer for great Bavarian style food. The Sauerbraten served only on Saturday is fantastic, but then again so is everything else on the menu.

View Quote I usually get the charcuterie and the Baurensmaus, a pork chop, chunk of pork belly and a wurst, served atop a kraut, potato mix. The goulash is good too. That steak and old fashioneds sounds pretty unbeatable too. I can't go to extra virgin or Farina without an old fashioned. |
