This being a firearms site, my comments are
entirely informed by RKBA, and secondarily by all other concerns.
1) Voting for Joe Trillo is half a vote for Gina Raimondo. Based on the principle that voting for the most conservative/Libertarian candidate
most likely to win is the best way to protect RKBA rights, Trillo is a spoiler with zero chance to win. I wonder how much Gina paid him to run. ETA, I have no evidence of any such "collusion", though. If independent polling shows that Trillo has the best shot at defeating Raimondo, vote Trillo. As is stands now, he siphons votes from Fung, and is, basically, an enabler of Gina's electoral victory.
2) NRA/ILA ratings of RI State candidates are out, and available at
NRAPVF.org.
3) Nick Matiello, current speaker of the House, is probably the single most powerful politician standing between firearms owners and MA/CT type legislation. People in his district should be actively supporting him, and trying to garner support for his re-election.
4) The RI Progressives are making inroads onto the RI legislature, both Senate and House. They are die-hard anti-RKBA Socialists, and will not stop until defeated at the polls. Never, ever, vote for a single one of them, if you value your RKBA rights. This goes for all levels of political office, be it City, Town, or State. Make it your business to know who you are voting
for and voting
against
5) Many Progressive candidates are running unopposed, due to the screwy RI political climate. Remember, in RI, the Democrat Primary is often the
actual election. Make a note to vote in Democrat primaries, and dis-affiliate afterwards. Confirm dis-affiliation after a few months have passed, as sometimes "errors' occur. Only Democrats and
Un-affiliated voters can vote in Democrat primaries, and only registered, specific Party members, and registered, Un-Affiliated voters are eligible to vote in primaries for other Parties in RI. Go to local canvassing board and make sure of how you are listed. You want to be
Un-Affiliated, not Independent, in order to keep your strategic options open. Being registered as Independent means you are a member of the RI Independent party. You do NOT want to be registered as an Independent, because that is a recognized Political party in RI. Remember: Un-Affiliated gives you
strategic voting options, like sinking Progressive candidates.
Local, Town, and City candidates should be carefully screened for Progressive tendencies, as these political offices often are used as steppingstones to higher (State/Federal) Office. There is NO Progressive candidate that has publicly said they are a sincere friend to our RKBA rights.
6) If Gina wins, and Matiello loses either his election, or subsequent election to Speakership of RI House, then look for very tough days ahead. Progressives have on their list a number of things, primarily Semi-auto firearms outright banning, or at least licensing. Banning of magazines of over 10 rds is on the list, as well, possibly for all firearms.
7) The recent release of Gina's "Governor's Gun Safety Task Force" report only bolsters the anti-freedom anti-gunner Progressives. Read the report here:
http://www.providencejournal.com/news/20181004/ri-gun-safety-task-force-releases-final-recommendations. Note that the "Task Force" lacked any sort of reasonable representation from pro-RKBA individuals/groups. IOW, the Task Force's report was pre-ordained by stacking the members of the Task force.
8) There are a number of Bond issues on the ballot, including one for school repair. The official description of this bond does not contain a single word mentioning school security upgrades. That being the case, I urge rejection of this Bond, at least, so that the Pols can re-work it and better protect our schools. Every citizen should be first and foremost concerned with school security, and all other issues ought to be secondary until the security issue is addressed. Text of original Bill:

RI Coalition Against Gun Violence 2018 Agenda here:
https://www.ricagv.org/legislative-agenda/ . Please don't for a second think that this agenda is the end of their anti-firearms phobia. Note how well the RICAGV's goals mesh with the abovementioned Task Force Report. That's not an accident.
Suggestions: Support Non-Progressive candidates, and persuade family and friends to do so. Investigate how RICAGV receives their funding, and make a point of raising this question in conversation. RICAGV is deliberately very reluctant to reveal their funding sources, unlike many other public interest groups, even Progressive ones. Mention that the "Gun Safety Task force was "stacked" against gun owners whenever possible thus throwing their conclusions into disrepute.
Again, the above was written strictly on the basis of my being pro-RKBA, and with no other considerations. The above is solely my opinion, and has nothing to do with the site on an official basis.
Submitted for your consideration.
