Left Rachel at 2:10 and got to 318/93 with about 10 minutes to spare. They went north on 318...

All that I could find was that he stopped for a motorist assist. Made contact with the vehicle on the side of the road. Walking back to his vehicle was shot in the back with a "rifle" and was able to make a short message on his radio. Bad guy then shot him in the back of the head. Stole the SGT's uniform and vehicle, then later got stuck and was apprehended.
I know that area very well from working there. I guess the bad guy went to Cherry creek that is the only road off of US-93 between Lages Junction and the area of the stop/motorist assist. Bad guy was from the town of Ruth that is just west of Ely on US 50. All my contacts from there are retired. Anybody have more info? Former NHP guy |

Seems the guy was crazy and was at one time a chemist married to an epidemiologist. They say he was freaked out about the Covid.
