If you haven't registered to vote and un-affiliate you need to do it ASAP. The deadline is August 14th! Click
https://vote.sos.ri.gov/Home/RegistertoVote?ActiveFlag=1 and press the "Register To Vote" button to register to vote. Use the same link to un-affiliate. Once you enter your identifying information, select the Edit button next to Affiliation to un-affiliate. At the day of the election you can affiliate with the party of your choice to vote and then un-affiliate again. Voting in a Democrat primary does NOT mean you can't vote for a Republican in the General election.
Remember, in RI, the Primary is often the Election. If you are registered as an
Unaffiliated voter, you can vote in any single party's Primary. If you are registered as a member of a particular Party, you can only vote in
that Party's primary. After voting, you can fill-out paperwork, on the spot, to
disaffiliate.
In the General Election, even if you are Registered as a member of a particular party, you can still vote for
any party's candidate. Some folks misblieve that if they are registered as a member of party "x" they must always vote for party "x" candidates in the General Election; not true. In the case of an
uncontested General Election office, leaving that particular choice blank also sends a message.
