A painted strip on a tree is now a boundary marker?

in some places it is.

Some states, last I'd heard SC was not one of them.  It'd be easier than having to put out more No Trespassing and Operation Game Thief signs every year (and fix the barbed wire that occasionally gets cut).

A quick search found this,
The marked posts or even trees must have clearly visible paint and that paint must be placed 3-5 feet from the ground. Other states with purple paint rules to indicate property lines include Kansas, Arizona, Montana, Arkansas, Idaho, Florida, Maine, North Carolina, Missouri and Illinois. Pennsylvania also recently adapted the use of purple paint markings to indicate no trespassing in 2020.

I saw an article that included SC in the purple tree mix. I haven’t seen the law so I don’t know if that’s true.

Ditto to a no trespassing mark.

I saw something in email, maybe SC DNR, in the last 5 days.  I've been dealing with insurance claims on two damaged vehicles, elder care issues, fallout from absolute shit Mungo home construction quality, and a new travel trailer.  I don't know what end is up and it bothers me that I can't find an email when my slacker-claim-to-fame is "admin excellence."
