Because there's no better way to celebrate than to train!

Let's keep it simple and use the Hunter Station route. It's a fairly easy flat route, 3 miles out and back on pavement, with potential for bonus Germans. Quoting the BB guidebook, if you want this hike to count
Provisional rating (we'll measure to the turn around point).

. . . a prospective member must complete one hike, 3 miles in length, with at least two other persons unrelated to them as witnesses. The prospective member must complete the hike in under an hour while carrying 25lbs (excluding water weight) in a pack, and a long gun. The prospective member may choose to omit the long gun and instead add an additional 10lbs dry weight to their pack.

As for comms on the hike, we can exchange appropriate cell #'s on trail. I'll bring a GoTenna and a pair of blister pack radio's. The GoTenna twin is down in VA beach, so if anyone else has a set, bring them along and we can set up our own mini mesh to trail test.

I think we would cause more concern hiking in full decon suits than with long arms. Maybe for a later date!

Bump with an update. We have critical mass, so we're a go. If you want it to count for a BB hike, bring a 35 pound pack plus rifle, or just a 45 pound pack.

Forgot to mention that we averaged 3.26 MPH. Fairfax PD dispatch was happy to hear from us, and we had no odd encounters on the trail.
