Based on the ads, mailers, and reading I’ve done this seems like a solid “NO” vote. On it’s face letting politicians choose districts seems like a corruption free-for-all, but BOTH sides obviously benefit from it. But, give. The unlimited salaries, unlimited budget, and  minimal oversight this seems like an easy way to increase their blue footprint under the guise of “fairness”.

Am I right or wrong?

As far as I'm concerned, all 3 proposals are an easy NO!

This has already been done, in PA I think.

It's as bad as it sounds.

Solid NO. Don’t touch the constitution for something like this.

After every census the party in power draws up the voting districts. Both the Democrats and the Repubulicans abuse the process, sometimes they draw districts around former candidates homes to remove them from contention.

This proposal is an attempt by the Democrats to involve them in the redistricting process even when they don't have a majority in State Congress. The notion that they will use "independent" board members when filling these seats is ludicrous on its face. Who, exactly, is independent?

It's a power grab intended to gain political influence that the voting public refused to grant them in the general election.

A NO vote is the best choice.

Solid no, no interest in having random people "unelected officials" redrawing maps.

I was going to ask the same question today.  I'm glad someone else is wondering too.

I've read a lot about this and the more I read, the more I'm at the whole thing.

I'm a definite NO on prop 2.  ( all 3 props actually)

No for sure.

@simplemitch

eric holder's PAC dropped $250,000 into prop 2 for changing the gerrymandering. I think the dems have poured millions in overall, but haven't looked it up.
If you do a search on the assholes who put up the proposition you'll find democrats and more democrats.

WHO’S FUNDING IT: With around $1.6 million raised at the last campaign finance reporting deadline, its

largest funders now include the Obama-backed National Democratic Redistricting Committee, Texas-based Action Now Initiative, East Lansing’s Beckwith Constitutional Liberties Fund and the Michigan United Auto Workers.

Then came Friday evening, when campaign finance filings revealed VNP had received a staggering $14 million in direct and in-kind donations over the past three months, much of it from out-of-state dark money groups with a history of supporting Democratic causes. VNP spent nearly $11 million, most of it on consultants, strategists and media specialists who serve Democratic causes and candidates.

Conservative opponents, who had derided Prop 2 as a waste of money at best and a front for a Democratic gerrymander at worst, now say they feel vindicated.

“This should dispel the myth that Proposal 2 is some kind of nonpartisan grassroots initiative,” Lt. Gov. and former Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Calley wrote on Twitter.

This is an off shoot from the same thinking that gave us "The Secretary of State Project".  Phase Two if you will.  That sec of state project was implemented prior to 2008 elections after all the fun & games in Florida 2000.  Soros & other like minded leftists tried to plant their own people in sec of state positions in government.  Because, as a famous commie said "It's not the votes that count, it's who counts the votes".

With control of sec of state the leftists were able to keep counting votes in Minnesota to take an election away from Norm Coleman and hand it to Al Franken.  Same thing happened in Washington state - they kept counting "found" votes until Christine Gregoire could be installed as governor.  In both cases, despite valid legal challenges, each sec of state certified election results and halted vote counting.

Prop2 is not just bad it is inviting corruption into the election process.  This smacks of the same witch hunt money grab as the special council law.

Agreed; all 3 are a solid NO.  Heading to my polling location in just a bit to do just that; and help retire Stabmenow from the Senate...

I'm afraid to see what this is going to result in.

ETA: And with the passing of "Automatic Voter Registration" I foresee a lot of people casting votes that had no idea they cast a vote, if you know what I mean (and you can guess which party they "vote" for).

Thanks to all the stoners coming out to vote for the pot proposal, the Democrats cleaned up.
All 3 proposals passed plus stab-me-now was voted back in.

We need to figure out how to get control of this group before the Dems do.

The communists already have it figured out.  That's why they got it on the ballot.

Barring an act of God, we're screwed.
