Will is still allow prosecution of existing federal gun laws, such as "felon with a gun"?

Allow prosecution by whom? Nothing in this bill will cause the Federal justice system to cease functioning. Nothing in this bill will affect state laws. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a state crime, KRS 527.040 and I am sure that the state courts will still prosecute that statute.

We can expect to see more bills like this before and after Jan. 2021. Everybody seems to want their name on one of these.

So, even *MORE* knee-jerk feel-goodness that is nothing but wasted words, yes?

While this type of bill seems to lack any significant teeth, it does show one of two things...
1) Pandering - Make the people think you are with them against the big bad feds.
2) Sends a message - The people of KY are not in favor of these federal actions and will not support them if attempted.

Take your pick on which of the two you think is the intent.

I think you can find a significant amount of both of those things.
