The schools, public, are hit or miss. Palm Beach County has a huge population and is solidly Democratic, as are Broward, Dade and Monroe - to the south. Just to the north, Martin county is purple and has some nice areas. The cost of living anywhere down there is high. Many folks do private school. I grew up in PBC and have many relatives living there. I live on the Saint Lucie/Indian River County line. It is a different world up here. I went to work, lunch, post office, my wife's work and dinner - no masks worn. Try that down south.
All of Florida allows 'toys'. Florida has concealed carry and allows, with safe practices involved, shooting on your property. This is easier in the northern areas, if you have a large piece of property. I can't imagine any of the southern counties allowing shooting on your own property, with a few exceptions on the western fringes of the counties. These western areas, generally won't have the better schools, although you can drive your kids to a school in another area.
If you can afford it, you can find some nice areas. My cousin, a Floridian, just moved back to Jupiter from Oklahoma. He picked up 10 acres with an old house on it. He is rehabbing the home (his profession) and just built a huge workshop next to the house. He, via deed, has access to a dock and boat ramp, across the street, where he can put his boat into the Loxahatchee River, which provides ocean access. Not inexpensive.
