Politico: John Cornyn Willing to Find ‘Common Ground’ on Gun Control

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is reportedly talking to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and is willing to search out “common ground” for gun control.

Politico noted Cornyn was not comfortable supporting the current universal background check gun control proposals Democrats have put forward but could be open to more narrow offers.

Cornyn mentioned having “quiet conversations” with Murphy for the purposes of “[finding] common ground.”

Unfortunately the bastard just won reelection, but let him know that you'll actively campaign against him next go around. There are a lot of reasons beyond this to do so.

Common ground is always Republicans working on things Democrats want.

From 2015-2021, there were no Democrats who worked with Republicans on reciprocity bills (Milk Carton Cornyn's big bill that he trots out to pretend he's working for us), reform of the NFA, or any gun issues.

It's always R's working with D's on what D's want.

I do wonder about the future of the Republican party.  "Vote for us, you'll get slightly less of what you don't want than if the other side gets elected" isn't a viable theme for a party.
