Mom lives in Newark area.

She has her permit to buy a pistol...not sure what that all entails but she is good to buy.

Apparently there are features in NJ that are not allowed for handguns in NJ...I’m having issues finding exact restrictions online.

Apparently I can’t buy her a pistol in MT and ship it to NJ because it might not be NJ compliant.

Any gun shops recommended in the area that actually have stock?

Simple answer is nothing over 10 rounds.  Find online and ship to a NJ FFL

Was told there is a trigger pull weight minimum. Any truth to that?

Nope, fake news, can't be over 50 Ounces for a semi auto, AR style pistols are pretty much out.

1. an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
2. a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;
3. a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
4. manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
5. a semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm;

It can only have a maximum of one of the above characteristics. It really only affects things like AR and AK type pistols, all of the most common handguns are fine. just be aware of the relatively new 10rd mag capacity limit.

So a standard G19 with a 10 round mag is good to go?

Lous Firearms is a great shop to do business.

Friendly. Well informed. No pressure, take your time.

Last time I was there, they did not even ask to see my FID card.

Good shop but expect to look for a parking space.

They are good to go.
