It is just hopeless.

Nobody can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory faster than a Republican.

Because republicans are stupid.

Republicans always think the other side is just misinformed and can be reasoned with if they were just to have a conversation.

Democrats think the other side is evil and must be destroyed because they can’t be reasoned with.

E mail sent

E mail Phelan, ask him to get Constitutional Carry on the floor for a vote. Also not to put Democrats as Chairs of committees critical to passing gun bills.

^^^THIS^^^

I also kind of agree with the guy above who said in reality both parties are in bed together, and it's all just a fake show for the peons.  Normally I would poo-poo that concept as paranoia but not anymore.

Basically everyone voted for him.  Which lends credence to the theory that it's one big incestuous party versus two parties.

From the Texas Tribune here.
The House voted 143-2 for Phelan, with four members not voting. The two members who voted against Phelan were GOP freshmen Bryan Slaton and Jeff Cason.

Not really, while Boner fucked up Constitutional Carry. Phelan got through allowing people to carry without a permit when evacuating. Not great, but like most of Texas gun freedoms they move in very small steps.

Texas has been letting Democrats be chairs of committees for years, the trick is not to have them of chairs of important committees.

Now is the time to send Phelan an e mail asking for a good pro gun conservative to chair the homeland security committee.

So really he acknowledges their only goal is to sell us out and bring in more foreigners and Californians to make them rich and turn us blue while the rest of us suffer the consequences.

It only happened so fast in Georgia with Hollyweird because the state was smaller.  It is taking more time here because of all of our mid-sized cities.

Have you guys even e mailed Phelan asking if he would do what he could to get a floor vote on Constitutional Carry? I bet if he got 300-400 e mails he would pay attention. Same with a pro-gun chair of the Homeland Security committee.

Or are you just going to scream and cry here? Maybe you should look at Phelan’s voting/bill sponsoring record. It is not too bad. He was the sponsor of the bill that allows Constitutional Carry when evacuating from a declared emergency.

Dude, Phelan has not placed any chairs yet, at least not formally. Every speaker has had a few Democrats as chairs. Now many of these were went Texas had some reasonable Blue Dog Democrats. It was Boner who put an anti-gun Democrat in charge of Homeland Security committee, and we still got pro gun bills through including a bill Phelan authored.

Boner also did not want Constitutional Carry passed, that is why he lied about what the bill did. Phelan never lied about Constitutional Carry and he authored and got passed a ‘Constitutional Carry light’ bill. Which is to me a good sign.

I so hope you're right, Don, but faith in elected officials in recent years...especially Republicans...has been a huge disappointment.  Democrats have always gone for the throat, and it has worked for them.  I hate to say it, but I think the only solution is to do the same and go scorched earth on democrats.  Sounds terrible, but you treat cancer with extreme surgery and chemo.  Democrats are cancer.

This may be our best chance to get Constitutional Carry passed. The Republicans lost no seats in the last election, it is a plank in the Texas Republican Party, we have a speaker who is honestly friendly to gun rights, having been the sponsor of gun fights bills.

Keep up e mail Phelan asking for a floor vote and to appoint a pro-gun chair to Homeland Security. Don’t expect a response but his office staff is adding up how many are for and how many are against.

Seriously, legislators and their staff REALLY appreciate it when people get directly to the point.  Not saying you should use crayons to draw pictures, but keeping your message very succinct will likely be much appreciated.

Keep e mails to 2-4 lines. The e mail I sent covered two related topics and I kept it to 3 short lines. The two things I asked for was doing as much as possible to get a floor vote on Constitutional Carry and to make sure we get a pro-gun chair of the Homeland Security committee.

I never expected an answer, but I can 99.999% sure Phelan’s office is making ‘tic marks’ on each item.
