I am in Quakertown, PA the club I belong to is Ridge and Valley Rod and GunClub in Locust Valley PA  25, 50, 100 yd ranges 4positions each station  Also currently under construction hand gun only range with metal knockdown targets that will be able to reset form the firing position manually.  Monday is also clay pigeon day 3 or 3.50 a round.  I am not an officer but we do need more members who want to get invoved young ,old ,mal,e female ,color, religion, it doesn't matter if you like to shoot and you want to get involved contact the club directly  If you are from the area you also know that the Game commission has shut down the ranges for modifications.  So if you are looking give them a holler.  No mag limits ie. 1 round at a time.  You must be a member to use the facility.  Sounds silly but we have non-members who think it is a public range.

chirodoc,

If you are thinking of joining the Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers, be aware they are about to double the annual dues.  Raising it to $75 a year.  It's convenient for me, being less than 5 minutes from the house, but don't think it's going to be worth $150.00 a year for I and my wife to stay members.

I, my wife, and my son as well as about 6-8 other guys and their families that I have talked to are looking at other ranges in the area to move on to.  There is another one close to me (within 15 minutes and $30 a yr)  that I am told has a 300 yd range, which I could definitely use.  H&A only has a 25,50,100 yd range.  I'm looking to check it out.

I'm in Prospect Park, PA.  I've been a member of DCF&S off and on for about 20 years or so.

My advise?  Don't waste your money.  The range rules are friggin rediculous.  You'd think the Brady Campaign wrote the range rules.  One round limit  at the rifle range (even for bolt actions).  The shotgun gamers run the place.  They are the only ones with modern amenities.  The other ranges are all out of the 1940's.  The pistol range works if you bring your own backstop and you're into long range marksmanship.  But forget about realistic range self defense practice.  Oh and leave the human shaped targets at home, because they are strictly verboten.

At least one of the range officers at the centerfire range overlooks the magazine limit rule, but only for his buddies.  I got hollered at for having 5 rounds in my Mauser, and I noticed the guy 2 lanes down was shooting an AR15 with a 30 round magazine and it was full.  I pointed this out to the range officer and he blew me off, telling me that the guy that was shooting the AR15 knows what he's doing and because he was a range officer it was up to his discretion to enforce or waive the range rules.

What a crock.

DelCo is a terrible place to live if you are a shooter.  DCF&S is the default place to go, even though it sucks fetid dingo kidneys.

Cruzie,

I'm originally from Pottsville.  Go to Blackwood.

There's all kinds of strippings you can blast at.  I haven't been home in a while, but I think some areas near the Joe Zerby airport may still be open.

I may be back in the AO next spring.

building.

but it is starting to get expensive even up there. Next step may be buying a old rancher for the land and do a tear down. Seems like a hassle. Would rather find a few private acres but seems like the builders are all in front of the line.
