and now I am horizontal for the next couple of days with ice packs on the ankle and enjoying max pain killers due to the timed 1.5 mile run. I hope to maybe mow the lawn(s) this weekend and maybe go plinking with our daughter.

At my last US Navy command, SIMA Long Beach, my Chief Petty Officer use to breath from an oxygen mask prior to the annual 2 mile run/PT test.

That "long-neglected 10/22 takedown" is still sitting in the case like the day I brought it home from up there.
 Our daughter likes taking out her guns when we go plinking and making videos of her shooting them to send to her Snapchat friends...and some with dads guns.

 ETA: There won't be any mowing or plinking going on this weekend and it's not because of the weather. All I have done since Thursday is sleep and make it to the couch, then sleep some more. This year the PT test hit me hard and my wife told me that it will be my last. |

Dude, best thing about retiring and picking up a state job that doesn't matter how fat you are is the fact I no longer need to endure the torture of a fitness test. At least you passed. Now, feel free to take the the old codger route of calling in sick until you aren't sore any more. Glad to hear you survived. Please join me in drinking another celebratory beer!

Well my State employment will “officially” end (my wife decrees) in Jan of ‘24 and my wife will be done with the State in Jan of ‘23. I will not be one of those retirees who will be working when the time comes as it will be time to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
 Here’s to our celebratory beer.

I don’t miss the annual 2 mile run through the LeMars, Iowa park down to the fairgrounds and then back or down the gravel road north of LeMars. I always ate a snickers bar before the run or I would get nauseous from my blood sugar dropping.
