Dang.  He was a good man and knowledgeable about highpower.  I shot with him any times at Blanding in the 90’s.

Gene was a great guy. The range was always a better place when he ran it.

Dang. Met him a few times there way back. Always a great guy to talk too. I don’t think I’ve been to that range in 7 or 8 years.

When I signed up for a membership there, he told me one of the papers was giving them permission to burry me in a ditch out back if a accident happened.

Absolutely!!  Just got back from the service at Sarasota National, really good turn out, to say Gene had lots of friends would be an understatement.

I knew Gene for 24 years. He took me under his wing as a know-it-all 18 year old kid. He taught me everything I REALLY know about high-power and long range shooting. Years were spent at his ranch chasing cows, feeding his pigs, and building some of the coolest pistols and rifles I've ever seen. Got some pretty cool mementos of our time together. I moved to Texas some years ago, and just learned of his passing last night when a letter arrived from Karen. I'm thankful I made the trip out to see him about a year ago, otherwise I'd be more upset about it than I already am. He was the gruff man with a heart of gold. The older I get, more I realize that he had tremendous patience with me at my young age.
Rest in peace Gunny
