Coming down to Fla for the Thanksgiving holiday yet again and found out that I'll be down for a week with my MIL and both my SIL's and their crotchfruit. It isnt happening for me. So Im thinking of heading over to Okeechobee with my 10 year old and maybe do a Bass fishing trip. Has anyone done this or can someone give me some pointers in the area?
Looking to stay a night or 2.

Bass? Don't know. Why note go on a head boat. Ft Pierce, Stuart, Jupiter.
Snapper, mackerel, kingfish, others.

Okeechobee, Roland Martin marina has guides I believe.

Does anyone know what the fishing in general has been like in Lake O with the algae?? will be down next month.

On the big O, you use black and blue plastics or jigs. It’s one of those unspoken but understood things.

Lots of flipping/punching in lily pads or grass. I would definitely recommend using heavier braid than usual.

There is a nice place to shoot out to 1k yards on the north west side of the lake, so bring a bang stick also.

Oh for sure, My MIL in Del Ray has a pond in her yard that I fish when we come down, I have progressively caught bigger bass every year since they have moved in. I keep a few poles there. Last year I had to swap 2 poles to 40lb braid because I lost a few pigs to line chomps. This year they will get dragged on land for sure.
