For the Northern CA HTF crew:  We are starting a regional chapter of American Pioneer Corps (APC) out of the Reno, NV area and wanted to invite our NorCal brothers/sisters to join us.  For details on what APC is (and isn’t), please visit https://www.americanpioneercorps.org/ .  APC chapters are referred to as “Battle Buddy” groups and as such, our provisional chapter will be the Sierra Nevada Battle Buddies.

I know that Reno may be a bit far for some of you depending where you are in CA, but we wanted to put the invitation out there to at least provide the opportunity and encourage you to get involved nonetheless.

Our focus at the start is to plan a few small hikes/events that are easy to join and attend while meeting some of the initial requirements found at the APC site.  The overall goal is to improve our individual and group fitness and capabilities in outdoor disciplines.  We have an incredible resource in the expanses of mountains and desert right in our backyard, so let’s get after it and make ourselves better in the process.

If you are interested in participating or would like more details, please email apc.sierranevada at protonmail.com .

Our first tentative event will be a short, easy 3.7 mile hike in Reno planned for Sunday, 2/21.  Look for a new post in the HTF for specific details.  I look forward to seeing some new (and familiar) faces at future APC events with Sierra Nevada BB.  For more APC info on Arfcom, look for the American Pioneer Corps HTF link at the top of the main Hometown Forum page (there are also a bunch of APC related topics in GD right now as well).

This is a really slow forum and most of the respondents are in SoCal but BTT just because.

Absolutely!  First hike details have been posted in separate threads in the CA and NV HTF.
