Hello,
I just moved to MN (Minneapolis) for work. I thought I'd stop in here and say hi. I don't know the area at all. I'm on the south side of Minneapolis. Are there any good ranges nearby for USPSA, 3 gun, and/or long range shooting? Any good gun shows or events? Anyone know a Sig armorer? I normally do my on work, but I've been calling all over and have been having a hell of a time finding one. Thanks! ![]() |

Welcome.
You'll probably find that this HTW doesn't get a whole lot of traffic compared to some others. As far as ranges I've only been to Bills run range in Robbinsdale or Centerville. As far as gun shows I usually go to the MWCA shows listed here. The show at the fairgrounds in March is pretty big. But after a while you start to see the same vendors selling the same stuff. |

Welcome!
There is the Burnsville Pistol Range south of Minneapolis. I think they had matches there, but I haven't paid much attention to that. ETA: MWCA gun shows are pretty decent. The Croc Productions shows that I've been to are mostly medals and old military gear, with an occasional Mauser or Arisaka rifle mixed in. It's been a while since I've been to either though. |

welcome to MN, we need all the red votes we can get!
Make sure you get your Permit To Carry ASAP (sounds like you may be LEO though, with needing a pistol for "work"?), and if I were you (again, assuming civvy), have a BOB ready to go since you are in south minneapolis. The skeeters are almost done for the year, but the asian beetles (lady bug looking bugs) will come out on any sunny/warm day yet. If you come from warm weather (VA considered warm weather), get yourself outfitted with winter gear now before prices go up. Remember: it is routinely below 0 during the day, and we get negative teens to twenties regularly, plus wind chill. Please learn how to drive on ice quickly and safely if you have no experience with it. I would recommend actual snow/winter tires on your vehicle, they are actually MUCH better on snow/ice than all-terrain. |

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
I'm hoping to get to a match or two before it gets cold out. I've seen snow before, but these below zero/very cold winter temps are gonna be new for me. ![]() edit: How bad has Minneapolis gotten? I'm working on getting a place in Burnsville. Do you think the riots will get that far south? |

Things are slowly improving although you'll see a lot of boarded up buildings due to the uh..."Peaceful protests". There's no way the rioting or looting will make it to Burnsville. I could be wrong but that's just my guess. Welcome to Minnesota. |

I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But, I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He'd have to say, "O.K.I'll be part of this world

I'm hesitant to say "of like mind" for obvious reasons. The fucking nazi's are running this state! ![]() No. They aren't. Pine Island is a great range however it is private and the wait list is probably 6 months long and it is close to rochester so a little drive but worth it. Do you think the riots will get that far south? View Quote Welcome to Minnesota! Consider also the cities that are next to Burnsville; such as Savage, Eagan, Apple Valley, and Lakeville. Of those, Lakeville is the city that is still in a growth mode with new housing being developed. Eagan and Apple Valley have some new development but are mostly developed with little land left for new housing and new businesses. Will the riots get as far as Burnsville? Possibly, but the logistics work against them. How bad have things become in Minneapolis? Bad enough to avoid downtown unless you have specific business down there. |

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
