Rates increase $32 per vehicle.

Story link

I am going to bet they collect this money and then use it for something other than what they are saying.  I hope some watchdog group sues them for passing a new tax without voter approval.

I have 7 registered vehicles, so I am saving for one more fee for my new killdozer I am building.

They are following the California game plan with this crap.

Correct link.

Guess I'll have 1 more reason to laugh (or cry Inside) when I get my tags for my '86 IROC.  Registration is around $8-9.  Custom plate is $25 and now this fee is going to be $32.

Yep ,ADOT emailed me about that a week ago ( I am a used car dealer) . There ain't a dam thing we can do about it , we are going in  the direction of California . Property tax's are going up ( red for ed) and the cost of law enforcement and fire  and pensions are  up, not withstanding the cost of funding pensions  twice because they got greedy and wanted an unrealistic return so we had to bail them out when it failed . And the cost of huge population growth on an aging infrastructure ,and it was inevitable . And last but not least illegal aliens sucking up schooling, service's   and benefits while paying little or no tax . Bottom line is if you want to live here in the 21st century your going to have to live with it and pay or move.  And the cost of energy /electric and water in the next 5 years will make this MVD tax ( and that is what it is ) look like just a drop in the bucket . IMHO it is creeping socialism from people migrating from California and the like ,and the outrageous illegal alien problem ,and the needed  for additional law enforcement to combat the drug and crime problems they bring.

I register my vehicles for 5 years, so now it's an extra $160 up front, when the tags are only $65-$100 for 5 years.

Permanent registration in Montana is looking like a much better option.

Who ever was rooting for RED FOR ED is to blame .  Because they took the money from DPS to pay the teachers and now they need to pay back DPS.

This right here. But hey, at least we will still have underperforming public schools for our kids. So there's that.

I looked through the articles but didn't find the answer. Is the $32 per vehicle registration counting for motorcycles/ATVs too?

I think my registration for my ATV was like $60 for 2 years. I'll be a little pissy if that doubles.

DPS needs to swap out the vinyl graphics on their remaining vehicles.

I do not know about motorcycles, but
Street-legal golf carts and primarily off-highway vehicles will pay $5

Slimy politicians calling it a fee instead of a tax.  It is a tax.

When Gov. Doug Ducey signed the bill in April implementing the fee, some Republican lawmakers raised about whether it amounted to a tax increase. But Ducey's office said the change wasn't the same because it is a user fee.

Three republicans sponsored the bill.

Four republicans in the senate voted for it.

Ten republicans in the house voted for it.

Here is the crappy part, the fee can go up every year based on what ADOT wants it to be:

Transportation Department spokesman Doug Nick said under the law, the Department of Public Safety submits an annual budget projection and ADOT "calculates the fee to support that request.''

Complain to your reps.

You're already hearing them say that the fee is significantly higher - I've heard some say double - what it was projected to be.

That's not surprising; they basically gave ADOT the ability to raise their own salaries.

Last year (2018) my ‘06 Yamaha rhino was $4.50, $3 reg and $1.50 clean air.

This year(2019) its $21?  I’ll check in the morning.

ETA:

Looks like since I let my Off Road expire , and did not renew it before my registration.  They did it as a vehicle which is primarily on the road.  If I would of renewed the OHV first, I bet it would of been the $4.50.  OVH was due in Oct, REG in November.
