I strongly encourage all RI voters to contact their State Reps and tell them, in no uncertain terms, that you demand they vote for Mattiello for House Speaker.

He is the ONE, SINGLE, PERSON that has forestalled the "Progressive" wave in RI politics, and he has managed to have most anti-RKBA legislation trashed before coming to a floor vote.

You all need to tell your State Reps that you want Mattiello re-instated as House Speaker.  Or, watch your RKBA rights go down the drain if a "Progressive" speaker is elected.

Without Mattiello, we would already have had a much stronger "Red Flag" law, and very likely a version of an "Assault Weapon" Ban, as well as a Magazine Capacity restriction.

I type this with only the RKBA issues in mind.  I have zero connection to Mattiello in any way. I understand that some folks might have other priorities, but do some reflection, please.  Fundamental Rights, once surrendered, are gone forever.

To reiterate, PLEASE ask your RI House Rep to support Mattiello in his bid for House Speaker.   You'll be doing the RKBA cause a good turn by doing so.

I heard that as well, but a little "reinforcement" won't hurt.  He's not elected Speaker till he's elected Speaker.

The Progressives in the House (and don't forget the Senate) have gotten quite a bit of what they wanted.  No doubt there will be attempts to "tweak" some of the current laws into versions more to the liking of the "Progressives" who did not get everything they wanted the first time around.  Its also possible that some laws will be modified into versions more to the liking of pro-RKBA people, but that is rather less likely--but still possible.

Take a close look at the conclusions of the hand-picked Governor's Gun Safety Task Force.  There's your road map for what the Progressives want, plain and simple.  See article on Pg A3 of Friday Oct 5, 2018 Providence Journal for details.

Don't forget the RI Senate.  Sen President Ruggerio has an "A" rating rom the NRA, and some Senators are well-rated as well.   A bill has to pass both chambers in order to be signed by the Governor.  Of course, since she is Term-Limited, Gina will likely go full Progressive, her signing any and every anti-gun bill is a forgone conclusion.

Things will, indeed, be tough this year, as the Progressives are coming up towards the Key Items on their wish list.  I would think one of the goals should be to "nudge" them into saying stupid things, like admitting their real, victim-disarmament agenda.  My guess is that these Anti-RKBA types are not well-skilled in debating against knowledgeable and articulate Pro-RKBA opponents.

Very Huge Concur.  Your typical State Sen or Rep seldom receives much communication from voters as regards any bill.  Pounding them on anti-RKBA Bills makes a BIG difference, as the staffers tallying the input don't always know that there are multiple inputs from same voter.  Rest assured that the Antis know this, and will exploit this flaw.  We need to out-do them, plain and simple.

Composing an e-mail to all the Committee members hearing such bill, and sending it to all of them should take no more than 20 minutes or so.
