Thank you for your service, my son is in the AF and should be reporting to Moody July 2022. He's currently at FE Warren and likes it there but he and his wife are looking forward to being close to the family here. |

They are Sumter, Lake and Marion. We (Marion) has the least amount of the Villages. We do have the SR200 corridor and it is filled with old people but it's not as bad as the Villages. Try to find a friend with land to shoot on. It is better than the Ocala National Forest Range. I have worked several stolen/lost firearms from the range. I don't shot there but I do drive through in a star car from time to time. Dan |

They like their golf carts. I have been to the Forest a few times and, generally speaking, the lack of safety discipline is unnerving. We typically go to Shooters World in Tampa, I don't care for the one in The Villages, or JTAC Ranch. You can go out to 2,000 yards there. Unfortunately my Knights SR-25 20" won't reach out that far. Be safe on the job. |

I've been there about 2 years ago, watch a 20 minute safety video get a key chain bar code card and off you go. I usually shoot at Hernando Sportsman club, they have a great action shooting schedule.its about an hour and 20 from here in Ocala. Next Saturday is action rifle, 20 bucks to play no membership required. |

You will also find out it's infamous for those same 80 year old ladies pulling out in front of you from a crossroad right in front of you no matter HOW fast you are driving. They seem to get stuck in a frozen loop of no decision and at the very last instant decide to go. This is combined with 15 and 16 year old drivers who drive through town at 60+mph. Welcome to the looney bin.  ETA: Do NOT! wear white or off white anything in the ocala national forest during deer hunting season ... unless the idea of getting shot by a moron because he thinks you're a deer is something you like.

Greetings, from the Berkley of the South, PRAC, Peoples Republic of Alachua County, be glad you landed south we are the land of high taxes, high utilities, and liberal local politics. If you like driving we have GTR pretty cool range store combo was a member in the ole days. Bradford Sportmens club has pretty cool shotgun games lil north of the county line, If go to the national forests stay armed the entire time and take someone with ya.

Last time I shot out there for any length of time (more than a few test-fire rounds into a dirt berm or sand pit and then leave the area), I had a deputy tell me they were cracking down on it and neighbors had called anytime someone was there shooting for an extensive period of time, as you were technically "trespassing." Sucks because the land was all owned by the Daytona Corporation and the spot my Dad and I had found was probably as safe as you could get. Massive 60 foot high dirt pile at the end of a 140 yard long ditch, with no houses behind it for miles and the roadway "downrange" of us (C-39) ran parallel to the ditch with probably 1/2 mile of woods in between the berm and the next dilapidated gravel surface street that no one drove down anyways. That was probably 14-15 years ago now... back when 9mm was 14 cents a round and the Wal-Mart shelves everywhere around here were sagging with the weight of it.  If you're looking to buy property, shoot me a PM - I work in Citrus as a realtor and would be happy to help you find somewhere that you could shoot safely and legally without having to deal with range nazis or the stupidity that goes along with public ranges. |

Welcome to Florida! One of the freer states in the nation. Plenty old horn dog women in your neck of the woods. The younger are closer to the beaches and consist of many young single mother refugees looking for a sugar daddy. No need to fear Florida man or woman, like the 'gators, pythons, bears, panthers etc. they can be very entertaining as long as you don't get too close.
Hope you left your snow shovel behind, you won't need it here. |
