New Car Registration

This is gonna be a dumb question, but it's been a while, and my brain can't seem to work this through.

Just bought my wife a new car. Transferred the plate from her old car.

Does the NC DMV automatically send me an updated registration card? Or do I need to go get one.

NC is so particular about everything....I already updated the insurance policy.

The stealership should send in the registration change and the DMV will send your new card...eventually. They are so backlogged right now I was told 6-8 weeks several months ago when I was at the tag office.

ETA My main concern is the insurance change. That is where I typically see the screw-ups happen and a wreck isn't the time to find out.

Thanks! That’s what I assumed.

The insurance was my biggest concern too, first thing I changed when I got home.

It's been a few years, but when I transferred plates to a new car, the dealership handled all of the DMV paperwork.
