Timing may work out for him if he can hang tight. If SCOTUS upends the prevailing two-tier scrutiny on the 2nd Amendment through NYSRPA v Bruen, the SAFE Act may be up for review soon enough. Something the state will not want happening  to their precious middle-of-the-night passed law. Any case that might be a vehicle for overturning it may get downgraded if not outright dismissed in the near future to avoid having to lose the law.
