My oldest daughter is moving to Augusta. Any places to avoid, things to watch out for, good things? She's not exactly moving from the lowest crime rate area in the world (FL), but I wanted to get an idea of what she's moving to.

It's not a bad town. There are parts I'd definitely avoid. But all in all, it's a pretty safe town.

IM inbound.

Tell her to avoid Lewiston, Biddeford (Lewiston by the sea) and parts of Waterville.

Depends on what kind of area she is moving from.  Augusta has some ghetto style areas but the level of ghetto is pretty tame compared to most places outside of Maine.  Since the town pretty much rolls up the sidewalks after 10pm, there isn't much to worry about.

Tell her to watch out for other drivers. Running redlights and stop signs is pretty much a olympic sport up here.

@A-Rob
Im about 15 mins outside of Augusta and have been in the general area the majority of my life.  Theres a couple roads where theres a bit of trouble. Ones boothby st and northern ave (aka sand hill)  idk how to say it without coming across as dbag but its the more low income higher drug/alcohol area. Ive personally jogged/biked around the area with out issues. The APD is usually cruising around the area often.

Food wise we have the normal chain places, but out side of Augusta in hallowell theres a couple small places that have decent food, the liberal cup (hipsterish but not bad) the best Chinese restaurant in the area Lucky  Garden (i may be a bit bias since my SO works there)

I used to destroy the buffet at Lucky Garden with my buddies back in college. It's one of the best in the state for sure.
