There is nothing you can do to make that gun ct legal.

There are ways of making it CT legal, but the question is cost, method and how far one wants to go to make it CT legal. Make it a true non detachable magazine using a more permanent method of fixing the 10 round (or less) magazine in place or turn it into a non semiautomatic rifle via the use of something like a pump action upper (l
ike one from ComGraf). Or make it a single feature semiautomatic detachable magazine rimfire rifle that likewise cannot easily be turned back to a centerfire rifle.
Each option caries potential risks due to the simple fact there is basically zero guidance from those in charge of enforcing the laws on doing so. One could think their rifle is legal and complies with the technical wording of the law; but find that after being discovered with it, that the state/law enforcement says it isn't legal.
But really, in the OP's case, if one single fuggly looking firearm they own is enough to cause one not to move to CT because it is not legal here, chances are good they don't want to move here in the first place (don't blame them in the least) and are looking for
any excuse not to do so.
