Just got my monthly Verizon bill for home phone service.
Last month it was $49.52 for a single line with unlimited long distance. Included were all the miscellaneous taxes and fees.
This month the bill is $93.21 for the same service and all the bullshit taxes and fees.
That's an increase of $43.69, or 74.96 percent.
Verizon (and the State Corporation Commission) did a masterful job of keeping this rate increase under wraps. I've talked
to 3 people who have Verizon home phone service, and none of them knew anything about this rate increase in advance.
I'll be on the phone to the SCC tomorrow morning about this, but I'm sure that there is not a damn thing that can be done.
I have Consumer Cellular as my cellphone provider. It looks like I'll have to get another cell phone and tell Verizon to suck
a fat one. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $93.21 for home phone service when another cellphone will cost me just $25 or so.
