It’s pretty late in the year for smallies up here. Not impossible but the recent weather hasn’t been very conducive to bass fishing. There is good grouse hunting but you will need to drive a bit from Merrimack. The best areas will be in Coos County.

When you ask people in person up here about grouse hunting, keep in mind that a long time local will call them partridge. This is often pronounced as pahtridge.
 As mentioned, the best grouse hunting is way up north. You can also find some decent hunting in the western, less populated, part of the state. Especially where logging has created a patchwork of varied habitat. |

Pickeral, largemouth and catfish in Naticook lake in Merrimack for days. Plethora of deer right now in southern NH.
