This story is confusing.  They charged him for not having a concealed weapon permit for carrying an AR-15 style rifle?!  Perhaps it was an AR-15 pistol.


"State troopers arrested a man Wednesday evening for carrying a semi-automatic weapon on board a Washington State Ferry without a proper permit.

Crew members called for help when they spotted the 39-year-old man carrying ammunition onto the vessel docked at Mukilteo. The man immediately went into a bathroom after boarding the “Tokitae.”

Trooper Kevin Fortino told KIRO Radio the man did not have a concealed carry permit for the AR-15 style rifle that troopers found with him upon his arrest in the restroom.

“There was no threatening behavior that made the crew concerned for the passengers safety … other than finding the behavior concerning,” Trooper Fortino said, adding that the man did appear to be intoxicated.

The ferry was delayed for about a half-hour so troopers could sweep the vessel and make sure the situation was under control.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a concealed carry permit."

WTF? I've seen people open carrying on ferries dozens of times.

I ride the ferry every day. There's a couple people that open carry fairly regularly in the Edmonds-Kingston crossing.

KING5 reported that this guy was a known instigator with previous run ins with ferry crews.

So when he boarded with an AR visibly tucked inside his coat the crew became alarmed.

Sounds like they probably made the right call then. Dumbasses gonna dumbass.
