So as mentioned in the thread in GD...apparently some of us have leads on food in our leg of the state that some of you aren't aware of when you pass through.

The one specifically mentioned in GD for those who didn't join in--Thai Hut in Como.  It's across the street from Como Steakhouse (yes, the steakhouse is good, but the wait is often long and it's pricey).  The guy who owns the place lives in Hernando and moved here (read:  fled) from CA.  His wife is the cook.  Expect a wait on your food but it's damned delicious.  I love their Nam Tok Pork.

Another one--TriBecca Allie Cafe in Sardis.  It's a pizza place.

Hernando--if you want steak don't waste your time at AC's.  Go across the square to Underground Cafe/Hernando Underground.
Thur, Fri, Sat they have steaks on the menu that will knock your socks off.  They also have (generally) some sort of fish and it's good as well.  Sunday they offer brunch.
Another great thing about the place, is that it's BYOB.  No cork fee.

There's also a new BBQ place in Hernando but I recommend their hamburgers--especially at lunch.  It's called Uncle Bubba's.

Tribecca Alley is really good...I just keep forgetting that it is there. Be sure to buy your beer next door and carry it in.

Delta Steakhouse in Senatobia is good. Similar to Como Steakhouse. A bit pricey for the area with a limited menu, but the pricing seems to keep the noise down. I think they just sell beer though, or at least that was the case about a month ago.

Kathryns at Moon Lake is neat spot. Near the old Moon Lake club which appeared in many Tennessee Williams works as the "Moon Lake Casino".

The Sumner Grill is another out of the way spot, although I don't know if it is still open. Food was great and quite a few big delta farmer types were hanging out...and drinking profusely. They were quick to point out that it was their rice on the menu. The chef pretty much hung out at our table and kept bringing us stuff to try.

Side Street Burgers in OB is small, but cool burger place.

The Chatterbox is a place I've always heard about but have never gone there.

I keep hearing the Pepperoni pizza place in Byhalia is good, similar to Victor's in Holly Springs but haven't gone yet.

Here's one in Tunica (most people probably have heard of this one)

The Blue and White.  The fried chicken there is excellent.

My 13 year old ate at the Blue and White last month when his class was delivering food baskets to elderly folks in Tunica. He said it was really good.

In for the good coast secrets.

Any good Thai restaurants around Gulfport?  I've been to Thai Lotus off Hwy 49 and wasn't impressed with the Pad Thai.

Any other Asian recommendations?

Side Street Burgers in OB is really good. Special limited menu burgers. The owner changes up his menu daily.

Wise Guys Pizza in Horn Lake is good.

The Rustler in Meridian on old Hwy 80 West. Great steak

The Loft in downtown Laurel. Great steak

Crescent City Grill on Hardy Street in Hattiesburg. Great food leaning towards NOLA inspired.

Half Shell Oyster House on Hwy 98 West in Hattiesburg. Seafood, steaks and fish, as well as oysters. They have Royal Reds and cook them almost perfect.

Yeah, I was surprised.  When they were on Hwy 51 they stayed busy.  Not sure if the new location didn't go over well or what.

I think the new place was doing ok, but they had a death in the family and someone else had a heart attack.

Excellent! I'll have to take the GF and go to Thai Hut. Her sister had a graduation party at that building across the street and I noticed it and was wondering about it.
It shouldn't be a secret, but Memphis BBQ Co in Southaven has awesome BBQ. If you're in Tupelo, Strange Brew coffee house has awesome coffee and baked goods as well (muffins, cake, etc. all made in house and they usually have a different assortment of stuff daily, including macaroons). I think there's a location in Starkville as well.

Where/what is "OB"?

Sadly, Vicksburg has few, if any, places that I would recommend.

Most of the larger restaurants continue to stay open based upon their past reputation and have gone downhill. (I'm talking about you, Goldie's Barbecue and Walnut Hills.)

Rusty's is pretty good: https://www.rustysriverfront.com/home

We have basically no decent barbecue, seafood, or hamburger restaurants.

Southern Sisters does a good lunch buffet and really good hamburger and fries---but they are only open for lunch. https://www.facebook.com/Southern-Sisters-Cafe-Catering-146324538734010/menu/

Visitors expect to find cajun food in Vicksburg, but they don't.

Mexican and fast food chain places have taken over.

And few locals eat at the casinos. The food in them is not cheap and tastes like something you would get in a Piccadilly.

Found a place in downtown V'burg that has real shrimp po-boys; with genuine N.O. French Bread.

Must be Rusty's.

Olive Branch.

Pronounced as olive BRANCH or OLIVE branch depending on where you're from.

Nick's Ice House in H-burg. Went there back when I was at USM. Owner's daughter used to come in after playing tennis just to tease us with that short skirt. That was back in '93. No food of the solid persuasion in the place. Hell, I still remember when the men's restroom had a trough and a hole in the floor.

In Cleveland,

Delta Meat Market-James Beard nominated chef Cole Ellis cooking all kinds of great stuff from steaks to seafood to shrimp grits. Great liquor and craft beer selection. Good friend of mine, tell him I sent you.
Hey Joe's-GREAT burgers and great selection of draft/craft beer. Dinner on upstairs patio overlooking downtown area. Hippy kind of joint with a lot of classic arcade games that I service for him.
Bellazar's-Excellent steak and seafood. I've know the owner for over 30 years. He runs a tight ship and makes sure you are 100% with everything.
Airport Grocery-BBQ, tamales, and homecooked food. Pooltables and funky 30's-60's decor. Related to the owner, way down the line, but I keep coming back for the great food and great bar.

These are MY favorite hangouts, when I have to hangout. They are changing things up everyday due to this corona bullshit, so experiences may vary day to day. Disclaimer is I have known most of them for a good portion of my life and consider them all good friends, but I wouldn't eat at their restaurants if the food or beer wasn't good

Seafood such as poyboys and platters to go on the coast is bozos in Pascagoula hands down. Expect a 45 min wait on the weekend.
