HB686 has been referred to the House Administration of Criminal Justice Committee. The last time Constitutional Carry came up, it died in committee. We need to speak with the committee members and demand that they pass the bill. Committee members are listed in the link below.

Louisiana Shooting Association's annual meeting is Sunday at Cabela's. I don't see anything on their social media in support of the bill. Should we show up to the meeting and make them aware of it? Does anyone have a contact inside LSA?

Assuming it makes it out of committee, I think it has a pretty good chance of passing.

We have a decent Republican majority in the House. We just need to make sure it gets far enough for them to vote on it.

Last time, the committee shot it down because Moms Demand Action paraded around some woman from the Lafayette theater shooting. link

There's little doubt that Moms Demand Action will be talking to the committee again. We can't let MDA be the only voice they hear. The committee needs to understand that MDA's opinion does not match that of the majority of Louisianans.

If your representative is an obvious no-go, please contact members of the committee.

I'll contact my reps.

Edwards is gonna call in any favors he has left to keep this from hitting his desk... he's got outside LA aspirations, and will get NOWHERE with his party nationally if he's seen as being pro-RKBA. If he vetoes it, then he loses what little blue dog support he has.

It's gonna be awesome.

No, they haven't killed it yet. HB72 was rewritten and then refiled as HB686.

Rep McCormick did an interview on Guntalk podcast. He said a lawyer looked it over and suggested some wording changes. Hence the withdraw/rewrite.
