Hello there, new to NC.

Looking for a range in the Raleigh area. At least 300 yards for rifle and a pistol range. Looking for a range where steel plates are available to use or rent if possible!

Prefer one that there is no yearly fee, don't shoot as much any more but if nothing is available it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks!

Offhand I don't know of any public ranges that meet your requirements.

DRPC has a 300 yard range.  But you'll have to join the club, it's private and they have a membership cap.

Woody's has longer ranges. Membership also required. Probably going to be your best bet.

Durham County Wildlife Club is still out there, but I have no idea if they have rifle ranges.

Might want to call Fuquay Gun and ask, they're about 30 min south. https://www.fuquaygun.com/

Also try Triangle Shooting Academy, they may be able to advise you as well. https://www.triangleshootingacademy.com/

Welcome to the Triangle.

ETA, a couple of other useful links.

True North in Oxford is 30 minutes north of Raleigh.

They are close to ending memberships.

It has a 300 yard and 100 yard rifle ranges with several pistol ranges.

There's usually matches on Saturday  and Sundays  but they don't use the rifle ranges and I've never had a problem with getting on the range I want to shoot on those days. No full autos allowed but other class 3s are ok. No shooting before 1230 pm on Sunday because its near a church. Steel targets are good to go

There is SSI in Loiusburg which is also about 30 minutes north of Raleigh but more east than Oxford.

It has a 200, 100, and a 50 yard rifle range. I'm not a member but I think Fuquay Guns is who to call to get on the list to be a member there.

Down side to it is no class 3 including suppressors and SBRs but they just started allowing steel targets a couple of years ago.

I think start time is 830 or 9 every day including Sundays.

They don't,  pretty good pistol range for punching paper out to 50 yards.
Club kicks butt for skeet, trap, 5 stand.  Even has an archery range

Woody's rifle club and the wake county range are nice ranges.

Wake county only goes to 100 but it's free.

Woody's is a great range, I joined last year. He is currently getting ready to open the 1000yd range in a couple of months. Currently it goes to 550yds.

I’ve been thinking about joining woody’s, how crowded is it typically?

Just wanted to add a +1 for DPRC. There is a roughly 5 year waiting list but it’s a great range and a great price. I have almost never had to share a range with anyone other than the long rifle range. Welcome to NC.

I normally go on weekday mornings or afternoons. It's not crowded at all. I am usually the only one there, or at most I've saw 2 other bays in use.
Never a wait or anything, I was worried about that before I signed up.
