If the gossip is correct then I was acquainted with the perp.
Details are sketchy as this happened just before noon 1/3/20.
2-3 people dead, more wounded.
Good chance I know some of the victims.
I've heard names mentioned but won't pass them till there's official release.
It was in the Kennecbec area of Machias and possibly one in Jonesboro.
Not good...

Yup... have known the shooter for 20 years or so..
Fellow veteran I met thru the American Legion..
I was a Vice Commander at that post several years ago..
He was more of an acquaintance than a friend but we'd always BS when we met.
AFAIK he was the current Adjutant of the post..
Never known or heard of any involvement in drugs or criminal activity.
He was a "shade tree mechanic" and known by many...
Never thought he'd be one to go off the rails..

I wasn't acquainted with any of the victims but know some relatives.
This is a fairly small rural community..

Why is still the big question.
The perp stated that he knew the victims so it wasn't random.
Perp was a member of the local Legion Post.
None of the victims have any Legion affiliation.
AFAIK there were no drugs involved. LEO seems to agree.
Of course there's rumors & gossip galore but that is expected.
Machias has a population of ~ 2500 and Jonesboro is much smaller.
I can't recall when the last murder occurred.. very rare.
I didn't know any of the victims but know a relative of one of them.
The LEOs aren't letting out a lot of info yet.. still investigating.
I believe the perps arraignment is today in the Calais District Court.

Off topic....
I've known people who were murdered, died in wrecks or suiceded..
But I've never known anyone that murdered in cold blood.
Kinda fucks with the head a bit.
I'm still trying to sort it all out.
