Does anyone here have recommendations for local shops in Northern IL that do a good job pinning and welding a 14.5 barrel? I saw Maxon in Des Plaines offers the service but was wondering if anyone has personally used them

Other option is to send to adco or Rainier

Have you tried contacting DS Arms at 877-277-7258 and asking them for a quote?

@ar15user

Due to liability reasons I am no longer undertaking machining project involving firearms. Thank you for the shout-out but please un-publish my phone number.

To OP, best wishes on completing your project. Any competent machinist / fab shop should be able to do your project for well under $100.

Thank you, I'll try reaching out to them. Have you used DS arms before?

Try John at retro arms works.  He is in southern Illinois but does some great work and I would assume he would do a pin and weld.  You would have to ship the barrel but usually I have my parts back within a week.

I've had the opportunity to shoot FAL rifles built by DSA.  They are top shelf.

A gunsmith in Bensenville did my pin and weld for about $60 if I recall correctly.
