I really like this.  The more liberals that get the hell out the better.  The only thing I ask is they never come back.

Good, they should move. I have been told by other liberals that Texas is literally just like hell.

Stand tall Texas, the divorce of America is well underway.

Awesome unintended consequences.

I kind of like this idea of liberal companies paying liberals to move to a higher tax state.

Move, get hit by a bus, die from Covid, struck by lightning...I don't care how they leave Texas, just as ;ong as they leave...

Make gun ownership mandatory.

I hope the libtards don't let the door hit them in the @$$ on the way out.

We need to have a "prisoner exchange" with California, Oregon and Washington...

They send us a couple million conservatives each and we send them an equal number of libtards.

Everyone will be happier.

Same offer for NE states.

Fun story. Too bad it won’t prevent Texas from going blue here pretty soon.

Sadly probably true...

Because libtards from the coasts are still moving here faster than the few who are actually not just all talk about going back where they came from.

These people shit where they eat and then complain that everything tastes like shit.

In the last 4-5 years about 2/3 of the homes bought in my neighborhood were purchased by CA/OR/WA residents. None fit in. Most hate it here in Dallas.

Being a native New Englander and married to a conservative girl from CA, I have quite a few liberal friends. Four have already told me they’d never move to Texas because of the new abortion law. Good.

They’re falling for all the hysteria about Texas stripping women of all their rights. One even said they’d rather live under Taliban rule than TX LOL. I’m not kidding.

My wife is a realtor. She’s being very selective about what family members to convince to move here. So far it looks like seven will be making the move. It looks like her father, sister, maybe brother and wife, my sister and at least two of her kids. Her mother is the only liberal in her family. My wife told her to stay in Nevada.

We should enact a state law requiring all citizens to stop whatever they're doing at 12 noon every day, stand in a direction facing the Alamo, place their right hand over their heart, and sing all four verses of "Texas, Our Texas".

You’d have to be really dense to think that law is a victory. It’ll be overturned.

Might as well hand over the elections to democrats. That’s what happens when you pass a religious based law.

If the Texas "Abortion Law" did anything, it was to rev the Far Left up to "11" with "Roe Vs. Wade" ...   Just like we get "excitable" whenever there are attempts at Usurping Citizen's Gun Rights.   It may well have played some part in Newsom remaining Governor of CA with fears that "It could happen HERE ... NEXT!!!"...

I believe it will be a HUGE Rally Point for Democrats in 2022 Mid Terms to whip their base to go to the polls & Vote Straight Ticket "D"...

(Of course Texas eliminated "Straight Ticket Party Voting" after the 2018 Blue Wave Beto Debacle), but Democrats will encourage their faithful to pull the lever besides every candidate who has a "D" next to their name all the way down the ballot.

Unfortunately, I think this is probably true.  I don't think the law is going to stand.  The fact that SCOTUS hasn't heard a case against it yet is mostly because the ones filed so far were hasty and not well thought out.

Every liberal who is "galvanized" enough by this law to move out of the state is a hard-core Beto-voter anyway.

Let them vote for the socialists in California, New York or Massachusetts instead.

Very few people move because of politics.  What this will do is make a bunch of moderate people vote dem in future elections.

For a long time I was a single issue voter.  2A was it for me.  You either support it or not.  If multiple candidates were pro-2A, then I'd move down to other issues I found important.  A lot of the time it meant I voted for a single party, but that's not always the case.

There are a LOT of people for which abortion rights are their single issue.  I think this will cost Texas Republicans quite a few positions.

We need to stop the myth that a liberal voter could be convinced to vote republican.  That does not really happen that much.  This is what the republicans seem to never understand.  The liberals are hardcore and will cut off their own nose to win.  The republicans are stupid and actually think that talking nice will convince them to vote R on a ticket. Look at Trump as an example.  How many times did you see a politician on TV that said they would have supported him if he was “nice”.  Well the left vote for racist and criminals because winning is all they care about.  They don’t care what the person they are voting for stands for as longs as they see a D.

If the republicans would actually get a backbone and see the left as the enemy they are they could run them in the ground and completely destroy them.

The moral to this is for all republicans to stop being a pussy.

We need to stop ignoring that there are more moderates in this state.  And libertarians.  Republicans will lose more and more if they don't come off these silly blue religious laws.

What makes an abortion restriction  law a religious law and what would make it not a religious law or are you saying that any restrictions on abortions is religious related as the only people that are against abortions are religious? The reason I ask is that I know lots of people that are not religious but are against abortions.   This is yet another example of things that you will see republicans get hung up on and will allow their party to get run over because they are afraid it could alienate moderate republicans thinking they will vote extreme liberal Democrats.

By the way I also know Democrats that are against all abortions but the Democrats are really good at forcing their party to vote for things they are against because winning is their only goal.

Abortion, like gay rights, is clearly religious based. Pretending like it isn’t is foolish.

I just find it hypocritical for someone to be all about first and second amendment rights, but then be for the government mandating what women can do to their bodies.

You’re going to force that middle ground to vote Democrat because of how ass backwards abortion laws are. This is how we become California

Abortion is about killing human beings, for the sake of convenience.

Putting a "religious" face on it is nothing more than a red herring - Designed to provoke a gag reflex from the secular crowd.

You seem to believe a lot of things to be hypocritical.

Your last rant about hypocrisy was targeted at people who have the audacity to boycott some leftist businesses without boycotting every single one of them.

As far as I know the only thing that religious people say about gay people is no gay marriage.  They could care less about anything else they do because of the whole love the person hate the sin beliefs they have.  The reason being that marriage is actually a religious thing.  They could care less about unions, partnerships or anything else you call it.  The pro gay marriage groups could of had something much sooner if they would have just dropped the word “marriage”.  They decided they wanted to attack different religions with that one as it really was not about two gay people having the same rights as a married couple.  It also shows that your not very well educated on this when you think that marriage is all their is related to gay rights.  This is not to be a knock on you it just shows how things  like this are used to convince people to think a certain way.

Also you do understand our laws are based on the 10 commandments dont you?  That is a religious thing so using your logic laws against stealing should not be around.  This ideas I am sure you will say is stupid to bring up is already being challenged in CA where they have basically legalized theft under $900.

So returning to abortion those that are against it don’t always see it as a religious thing.  They actually believe killing a “baby” is not a good thing and people’s convenience is not a valid reason to do it.   Those that just say only religious people are against it are using that as cover and their bogeyman  to avoid a real discussion.

Good point.  I was broadening the discussion to other blue laws.  Abortion is not strictly a religious issue, even though it lines up VERY closely with other religious issues in terms of political support.

Originally Posted By sanangelo:

If only that were true.  We all know that it's not.

The reason being that marriage is actually a religious thing.

No, marriage is now a contract that is intertwined throughout our political laws and social rules.  From taxes to hospital care, a gay person's spouse was treated different in places that had "civil unions" instead of "marriage."

Ugh, I hate when people say this.  As if morality would not exist without the 10 commandments.  You do understand that in places that have never heard of the 10 commandments, that stealing and murder are still considered wrong?  Just because christians wrote it down doesn't mean they invented basic morality.  I'm not disagreeing that our founding fathers were christian and biblically influenced, I'm saying morality (and laws) would exist even if the bible had never been written.

It's about telling a woman what they can and can't do with their bodies. If men could get pregnant, this wouldn't even be up for discussion. Men would never allow a ruling like this.

You mean that idiot who made a thread about boycotting Topo Chico because Coca Cola had exclusive distribution rights in the United States, even though they donate bipartisan and are factually not "leftist?" Then he thought HEB was a good alternative?
