FRIDAY UPDATE - City Council has voted to put this ion the ballot for the voters of LA to decide.  Un-freakin'-believable!

Can you imagine the LUNACY behind forcing all hotels in the City of LA to report their vacancies by 2PM every day and have those unfilled rooms forcibly occupied by homeless people.

That proposal is before the city council for consideration.  No, really, it is. I'm not making this up.

Can you imagine that?

If adopted, the ruling would apply equally to all hotels & motels in the City - Ritz-Carlton, InterContinental, etc, as well as to Motel6 and giving a new reality to the term "flea bag motel" to every lower-priced hotel in the City.

I AM STUNNED!

All unused rooms?

So like vacant until somebody comes along to rent the room?

Hot bunking with some hobo/bum dregg of society?

What could go wrong?   Make sure to send the unarmed co flict resolution team whenever it is time to evict a bum from the motel/hotel room?

Then there's this aspect to the ordinance -

"A hotel development project of 15 or more rooms would be required to replace demolished or converted housing with an equivalent amount of affordable housing at or near the project site."

They need to watch the documentary about Hotel Cecil to see how that worked out.  It’s not the topic of the series, but the effect of the homeless on the hotel is intertwined in the story.
