Drove it today for the first time.

Speed limit is 80mph.

Two very long, very flat, very isolated straights.

If a guy wanted to, they could really stretch a vehicles legs to see what it can do.

I would never, ever do such a thing but just saying.

23rd street to I40 stretch opens on the 5th, it’s going to be much busier then.

It's supposed to eventually go to Edmond I believe. I don't like turnpikes but that could possibly help you miss a lot of congestion between Shawnee and Edmond.

I’ve heard it’s gonna continue to south of Norman eventually as well.  A big ole bypass of the metro for those in a hurry.

It's 45mph right now between I-40 and 23rd street...which kind of sucks.

I'm surprised they used asphalt.  The big trucks will tear the shit out of that in no time.

@K5FAL
So the turnpike is open all the way from I-44 to I-40 now?

@catmech

Yes.  1 lane each direction @ 45mph between I-40 and 23rd.  From 23rd to I-44 it's completely open at 80mph.

I know a lot of people weren't happy about it being built, but it terminates 4 miles from my house and I commute back and forth to Tulsa for work a lot.

It's so much better than using HWY 177.
