Small shooting range outside Lancaster. Thoughts? I'm not a native Kentuckian.

There have been rumors that they are coming back into this state but fish and wildlife
Says there is no evidence that they can verify

It could also be an escaped puma or pumas but who knows.

Interesting, I've heard rumors of them too.

I've seen a couple of bobcats though.

They are here. They might not be here year round but they are here frequently. I know of multiple sightings in Boyd and Greenup counties over the years.

Fish and game denies they are here so they don’t have to allocate funding for management of them.  The funding doesn’t exist.  State is broke yo.

I’m thinking a .300 BO AR pistol is good idea when on a walkabout.

Now, I'm not an expert but about 15 years ago there was a VERY large cat roadkill'd a few miles from my dads house in Knott co. Had a long tail and was a dead ringer for a mountain lion. KYDFW denies they're in the state but I have my questions about it.

Between the black bears, bobcats and the "non-existent" mountain lions I'd consider a .357 or better when walking around the woods these days.

Exactly. F&W denies they're here, yet they killed one a few years ago.

"It was just passing through" was the (un)official response, IIRC. Deny it's a resident and they don't have the Federal headache.

They always deny their existence and when when gets killed or holed up in a barn somewhere they just brush it off.
