Holy crap.

Got my homeowner's renewal policy info for the year...

Up 31%

Anybody else seeing this drastic uptick?  I'm coastal, but not on the water.

Same here.  Got my renewal a few months ago and went up 28% IIRC.  Just plain theft.  I'm 12 miles from the gulf and at 85' above SL so no storm excuse.

Got my notice yesterday, almost $400 increase.  It does show that I have a shingle roof and have to call my agent to have him change it to reflect a metal roof we got after Michael.

Sorry...depends where you live, & what type/how old home is.  My new construction home was only $695 for a year.
Next year I may get screwed.  My moms house went up. They switched companies & paid less then they did last year.  Shop around.

What were you paying per year? ...  are now paying?

Asking because I’m laying the ground work for a family migration of conservatives to inland Naples area.

Mine went up 25%.  But, I am on the intercosal between Navarre and FWB.   Sally hit the area pretty hard.

Mine went up by 220.00! I haven’t taken time figured out what the percentage is.

Just received my renewal information, an increase of $700. Looking around for quotes from other folks. I emailed the state insurance regulators asking how they can approve increases of this size. Emailed company asking for an explanation.

5 insurance companies in FL went bankrupt.   The remaining ones went to the state and said, "if you want any insurers writing homeowners policies in FL, these are the rates we need."

FL obliged them.  Average of 25%ish increase across all companies.  Highest increases of 120%

All State approved as necessary.   In fairness, they paid out a shitload of money with all the claims in Louisiana.  Insurance is socialism.  Our premiums pay for the claims of everyone.  A lot of people had claims the past couple years.  (More evidence that socialism only works until you run out of other people's money.)

The best I could do is get mine down a couple hundred by messing with coverages and setting my deductible to $5000.
Wasn't worth it, so I wrote a $4600 check with the same company.

Mine went up about 30%, $400.00 higher.  I called around and could not find anything lower with same coverage.

They bought A LOT of new roofs around here so it's not a surprise. Everybody is quick to get on the hail-storm free roof bandwagon, then bitch when their rates go up.

How many of you all have USAA homeowners?
Link Posted: 3/16/2021 7:13:30 PM EDT

I have USAA and they have raised their rates every year but one since 2003.  I called to see if I could get a lower rate elsewhere but my roof is now 18 years old and the insurance broker said he couldn't find anyone to write it.

USAA refused to give me a policy when I built a new house in Florida.  Been a customer for over 25 years.  Fuck them

We that scares me. I'm building my house now, and I haven't yet called for a policy update because it's not close to finished...

Worrisome

Another factor is that your insurer is probably increasing your homes value every year, then the rate goes up.  In the past couple of years this actually makes sense, but mine tried that when home values were dropping and I found a new carrier.

My auto, homeowners, and property taxes all went up recently. One of the "benefits" of living in Florida.

Its the "benefit" of no income tax. My grandpa always said that one could control where they lived, what they bought and how many and what type of car they drove. You could also control your income (keep it down) but thats the one thing you would never want to do.

Thus no income tax is the better of the two haha
