IllinoisCarry is very pleased with President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. While serving as judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Judge Kavanaugh exhibited a keen understanding of the constitutional application of the Second Amendment. This is exemplified in his written dissent in the case of Heller II where he states judges are not to "re-calibrate the scope of the Second Amendment right based on judicial assessment of whether the law advances a sufficiently compelling or important government interest to override the individual right.”
We believe Judge Kavanaugh’s knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and his faithfulness in interpreting it "based on text, history, and tradition” will bring much needed balance to the Court.
We thank President Trump for his thoughtful and committed consideration in nominating Judge Kavanaugh. We are certain Pres. Trump's nomination will have a profound effect on firearm rights in the State of IL as well as the nation. The President has given us renewed hope that the Second Amendment will be protected at the highest level.
What a great day for the Second Amendment and our Constitution.
Let's flood the phones of our U.S. State Senators, urging confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh.
