I already have a compliant 16” .223 Wylde rifle (among other things, so don’t kick in my door expecting that to go well), and I have a spare 5.56/.223 Upper/Lower combo that I put in the closet a few months ago that I feel like building. What would you guys build as a fraternal twin to my existing AR? (Remember, I already have the receivers.)
- A 16” Fixed-mag with EVIL features. I’ve never even shot one. It’d get use at an indoor range.
- A 20” Featureless with a quality scope and bipod, for some long outdoor shooting.
- A 20” Fixed-mag with EVIL features, a quality scope, and bipod. (I don’t think a 20” of mine would ever be used outside the range, so an adjustable stock and muzzle brake would be nice. I can use a speedloader which isn’t the most accurate way to maintain aim, but is more accurate than breaking open the action. If I’m really worried about repetitive accuracy, I could always load one round at a time, but that seems to defeat the purpose of a semi-auto.
- Some other combo. NOTE: I don’t want an AR pistol.
I won’t be hunting with this rifle, nor use it for self defense. Is it pointless to go with a 20” barrel on this platform for long distance shooting, instead of going with an M5 7.62/.308 set? (In which case I’ll build a Fixed Mag 16”.) Thanks for any help.
