I've come to the conclusion that FFL holders on the Northshore do not want to do transfers, or think they're gonna get rich doing them...

I called Lacombe Gunsmith to see what he charges.  He wants $45 + tax, Ken's Archery wants $40, and FITS is $40 + 10%.  Good news is that Bayou Pawn in Slidell is the same as they are in Hammond: $20.

People can't actually be paying these prices, can they?

Patrick's Gun Shop
Are both around that.

But heads up on Dav Tac
They are around $45 - $55

I live in the Slidell area and now use Louisiana Sportsman in Pearl River, exit 5 off of I-59.  They charge $25.  I will not walk into FITS anymore.  Jims charged me $50 two years ago, plus my gas and three hour plus round trip.  No more Jim's

Louisiana Reloading Supply in Baton Rouge charged me $15 plus tax but that was a few years ago. Have not done one recently.

A guy my dad grew up with is a dreaded Kitchen Table FFL, and refuses to let me pay him for any transfers.

I know this doesn't help you at all. Most shops around here seem to run $15-$25 per.

So apparently there's a new place in Covington, C&S Gun Parlor, that charges $15.

I'm gonna check them out this week.

I stopped in there today.  The $15 transfers were a promo, they charge $25.

Owner was friendly, looked like a nice place, and had used guns too.

$35 in Broussard
Buckfins and Feathers
Railside Feed and supply

That cost covers up to 5 firearms in a single order at both places.

Edit: Acadiana Gunworks in Scott   $30 for transfer, 5$ each additional transaction

seems some places are charging an arm and leg to
1. Log gun in acquisition disposition book.
2. make a phone call
3. record the proceed # on the 4473

I've paid nothing and I have paid up to $20 in the New Orleans area.
