When I lived in New Market I did most of my shooting at the Westside Range, 1mile over the state line into WV on Rt 33 west of Harrisonburg

I live in that area, have 100 yard range out back - no issues.

Just buy enough land to shoot safely.
Be aware that some of the "towns" are more restrictive on shooting than if you are in the county. |

We (used to) shoot all the time at a farm out past the airport. Still do when I visit my parents. At the golf course you can hear gunfire all the time up on the mountain.
