I'm a first time home owner, and I'm just learning about easements.  What are the laws around easements in Louisville?  I'm asking because AT&T is currently going through my neighborhood installing fiber lines so they can offer AT&T Fiber in my neighborhood.  I have no interest in ever being an AT&T Customer, and I do not want them in my yard.  Came home today and they had their equipment sitting in my driveway, and I had to wait for them to move it before I could pull my car in.  They have dug 3 pits in my neighbor's yard.  I suspect they are going to do my yard tomorrow.  Is there anything I could have done to have stopped this?  I would have preferred to not have them in my yard if I could have avoided it.

You probably would not be able to stop them.  They will repair your lawn.  For the future, get a plat or drawing of your deeded area.  You may be surprised how little of your yard is free of easements.  Having the fiber in place will help with resale.  This spring, they ran fiber through my back yard and they have no plans of offering the service in Lexington-just passing through.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that.

That's interesting that they would run it through your back yard but not offer it in Lexington.  Wonder if they were trying to get it to Louisville...  Google Fiber is now available in certain parts of Louisville, so I think AT&T is trying to beat them to my neighborhood.
