Who: EVERYONE!!!!!; Some of us will have 45lbs and some of us will keep the 3 mph pace. As always, none of that is mandatory. The important thing is showing up by so doing showing your refusal to remain isolated and your refusal to invite defeat in detail.
What: 7.2mi hike with weighted packs.  Be prepared to bring rain gear, sun block, bug spray, and a MINIMUM of 2L of water. FRS handheld radios are useful & welcome.  Please refrain from bringing visible firearms/materiel as this trail is popular with normies.
When: Saturday, 5/8/2021, 0900 step off, This means arrival ~0845 is ideal as it gives us a chance to get vehicles staged.
Where: Step off from Union Hill Church (https://goo.gl/maps/Hh99TN1Qotw9N5KJA), hike to LSHT Trailhead #7 parking lot (https://goo.gl/maps/cwpXCrB17yCn4qdv7)
Why: You KNOW why!
How: Practically flying at 3mph on footback
Time Commitment without commute time: ~3 hours. I.E. you'll be done noonish with the whole of the afternoon for other obligations.
Weather: expecting 20% chance of rain with temps around 80*F and a nice breeze from the south.

The endpoint is 1000ft south of the big Sam Houston statue on the highway, but it's a roundabout route to cross 45 to get there & so better left to our cars; I think it'd be cool to do our post-game pow-wow there, and bring a cooler & some drinks for a brief tailgate meeting rather than a full lunch.

We only had two members for this hike so it wasn't recorded. Our third had a sick child to attend to. We took it a little easier and did not stress about maintaining pace. It wasn't HOT but it was warm and humid enough that we were both sweat soaked by the end. We had some muddy and swampy sections of the trail to negotiate and plenty of insects requiring repellent. Even a little bit more heat and humidity makes these hikes significantly more strenuous.
