Introduced to the Judiciary Committee yesterday.

House Bill 659

Boys, call your reps in support.
Let's make this happen!

EDIT - FTW vetoed it...

So, am I to take it from the lack of interest that the consensus is this Bill has no shot?
I really thought folks would be excited at the prospect, but understand the hesitance to get hopes up with the current lack of cajones in the Legislature and Herr Wolf sitting in the Governor's chair...

yeah. I would bet that has a lot to do with it. Even if there's a chance to get it to the governors desk, it will stop right there. With the rinos in PA, I don't think it'll even get that far.

I’m sure if we ever have another repub gov it will get signed.

Oh, wait........ no, it will never be proposed with a repub gov.

Watching this with much interest!  Can you all override Gov. Douchebag?

If so, fuck those hypocritical Beaver County self-defense gatekeepers!

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but this, right here.

They introduce and support stuff like this when they know the governor won’t sign it. That way when it comes around for election time they can campaign on the “gun vote”, and hold out their hand for money. “Support me, I’m fighting for you...look what I supported!” “ But that bad, evil Governor ( which he is) wouldn’t sign it!”

Sorry for the "clear as mud" post - I was a few beers in.

I'm concerned about county sheriffs, like Beaver Co., not wanting to give up their control over issuing permits,
and them quietly sabotaging the constitutional carry bill.

I have a lifelong connection to Beaver Co., but cannot carry concealed as I'm not a resident (thanks a lot, Josh Shapiro).

ETA: I assume constitutional carry would include reciprocity.

Yes, the Bill does provide reciprocity for holders of any out of state permit.

Update:
This morphed into Senate Bill 565, which was passed and presented to the Governor today.
He doesn’t have to sign it for it to become law, just can’t veto it…

Sorry if I'm being dense but could you clarify?  I understood that Wolf was on record that he would never, ever, sign this into law.  Are you saying it doesn't need his signature to go into effect, and he has no ability to veto?  Or, are you saying we don't need his approval, only his "abstention," so to speak?

If he vetoes it it’s dead unless by some miracle they get about 30 members of the GA to flip their nay votes to aye.
But if wolf takes no action for 10 days, it becomes law by default.

Don’t get your hopes up I had heard that his plan is to definitely VETO the bill.

Unfortunately, I don’t recall the source. Pretty sure I read it online.

Pa. House passes a bill expanding concealed carry rights, but Gov. Wolf promises to veto

So if I am reading things correctly, Wolf has not yet vetoed this bill and tomorrow is the last day he can veto it?
