I hope I’m wrong and I want to be wrong, but I have been hearing from multiple different sources within state gov that we are imminent for another shutdown to phase 1. I don’t know if it will be state wide or county specific, but have heard anytime between this Friday to August 1st and will be a minimum of 30 days.

I work in state gov and am reasonably high up, but have no power to really effect anything, all I can do behind the scenes is give a good pro 2a debate to our elected officials. So far they have taken my advise on a few issues and I’m still here and have not been fired.

Again I want to be wrong on this, but want to give a heads up. I just can’t ignore when completely different people from several agencies are saying the same thing.

Guess I'll run to the store in the morning and pick up some TP.

2nd round of closures wouldn't surprise me.
Link Posted: 7/23/2020 8:06:39 AM EDT
Ready as I can be. I'm really surprised round 2 closures haven't already been implemented....

Also working for the state, but low man on the totem pole.  Have gotten a similar feel regarding possible total roll back to Phase 1.  Can't get confirmation from bosses though.  Throughout all of this the bosses seem to be as much in the dark as all the rest of us.

Caesars opened Bally's today and they have been ahead of the state with their actions each time.  Based on that i have a little hope you guys are wrong.  A prayer may not be a bad idea either.

Sisolak doesn’t have the leadership skills to do a county by county plan. Clark county has issues with COVID, Washoe is doing okay and the rural same fairing well. The right thing to do is shut down Clark and leave everyone else in phase 2 or even move to phase 3. We know he won’t do that.

Sisolak doesn't have any leadership skills. He followed Newscum into the phased plan now i'm sure he got some very bad calls from people high up on the strip which is stopping him from going back to phase 1. That's the only thing i can think of for him to NOT have already followed CA back into restrictions. The casinos are the reason Vegas exists as more then a piss stop between LA and Utah. If they close again after dropping alot of money into retrofitting for making the changes to comply im sure there will be lawsuits and threats from high places.

I am leaning towards modified closure if any at all. I think he is being told to keep the state open by the casinos, general public, and mines now (mines don’t want to pay more taxes).

I am flying blind now as I was walked out of work today due to having a direct exposure for a positive person. I am on a 10 day quarantine at home now. I’m feeling ill, but think it is a summer cold from my kids. Doc I saw today said it could be a mild case of ronas as they have multiple strains here in Vegas and the perso that is hot has very mild symptoms.

So far I just have a slightly stuffy nose and very slight sore throat, bad headache, and feeling “hot” but never an elevated temp. That has been like this for the last 36 hours. Feeling a little better after dinner tonight so fingers crossed that it just a bug from my kids or mild ronas. The doctors office refused to test as testing is spread thin now.

Will everyone just FUCKING stop it!

Steve (the Cyst) Sisolak if a Fucking clown in an off-the-rack suit. He's nothing more than a puppet and a political hack-job dripping with hypocrisy.

Watch this and see what's REALLY going on by the people who are well-trained and in the trenches.

They are all great doctors who really care about humanity and I love the Black female doctor from South Africa and the Black American doctor.

Its Down too.

What I am concerned about is that at the last part of his talk he mentioned the next special session. Did anyone else catch  the part about Mail In voting? I know that if that is pushed through we would be totally screwed.

Apparently he's going to be calling another special session to tackle the voting "problem."

My fears came true.

This mornings RJ said that the legislature wants to take 3 million dollars of Federal pandemic money and apply it to a mail in vote program. Total BS. The feds should take the money back as it is not being used for its intended purpose. If this passes Nevada is screwed and we will for sure turn a deeper shade of blue.

This is why I am about to quit my job and drive up to Idaho, the Dakotas, Wyoming-that area, to go full time to find a small town to buy or build a home. I am done with this eastern kalifornia bullshit and am getting the fuck out.

We moved to southern Nevada in 1971. With the exception of a few years of college I’ve been here since I was eight.
This is the first time I’ve ever thought of moving away permanently.
The political climate and all the asshole liberal attitude has taken its toll.
I’m not sure where, but I’m sure something will present itself.

I have only been here since 2006 but the change I notice in 14 years is striking. Kalifornians and illegal aliens have destroyed this state. The guvnah is a whiny fucking bitch dictator wannabe who will get reelected in two years because the electorate is that fucking stupid. I can't fucking stay here, gotta move to the last part of 'Murica before SHTF.

You dont need to leave NV, just get out of the city. This goes for every state. It doesnt matter what state, the cities are the cancer.

That's probably accurate. Every state is under attack from the blue cancer and it always starts in the cities. Typically the rural areas don't care what happens elsewhere and the cities have no idea that the rural areas even exist. As long as they can get control of the electorate, they consider that a win; the rural areas don't have any sway one way or the other so as long as they don't get too vocal in opposition, they're tolerated.

Not exactly a panacea though as eventually, when the cities get bored, they'll turn their sights outward and get those pesky rurals under control too.

The rural areas do care.  As the blue cancer becomes more prevalent sweeping changes to the state affect us all.  The huge mining tax hike that is working it's way through special session will completely fuck the rurals.  If the mines are taxed out of existence,  then tons of expendable income in the rural areas will dry up and blow away.  Believe me that most rural Nevadans panties are in a big twist right now.

The rurals have to care, OSHA and local health departments have teamed up to visit businesses in small towns and are handing out substantial fines if they aren’t playing the game. This has been going on for several weeks now.

I found a nice little two-bedroom on a 1/2 acre about 15 miles north of Sturgis.

There are TONS of affordable rural homes available in that area.

Another SD native here, moved to AZ in 80.  I lived in the northeast part of the state, prairie.  I remember Halloween being cancelled due to a blizzard.  80 below wind chill is not uncommon.  Check property taxes, Grandma's 400 sqft house is over $5000 a year and that's with a cap in place.  Not that familiar with The Hills area but if i went back, I'd look into that area.

I guess I would say its a typical northern winter. Sure lots of cold and snow, but its not like you are house bound all winter at all.

I've come to really enjoy the desert but the SD winter would deter me little personally if a chose to go back.

Good to hear. I have lived in Los Angeles where I grew up, Georgia and Tennessee when I was in the army, and the desert in Kalifornia and Nevada for the past 22 years. I know that to get away from a lot of this big city communist bullshit I will most likely, depending where I finally decide to settle, have to accept and deal with real winters. That is the problem with nice climates-they attract hippies and communists like flies to shit.

I've been here for almost 20 years now. I grew up in NY. I consider that real winter. If anything I've read over the years is true, the Dakotas are a whole other level of cold. More power to those who can deal with that but I don't think that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

I think its just very subjective as to how much cold you want to deal with. For me it might not be as easy to deal with the winter as when I was younger, but I doubt it. I know there were many days I avoided outside and also many, many, days in the winter that were perfectly beautiful enough to stroll through grain fields looking for pheasants.

There is also no way I would pack it up and move there without spending some time in the winter season first to get a taste of it. Just to add, In small towns ( I come from a little ranching community) most trucks will have gun racks and many will just leave them unlocked when they run into the post office or step into a café.

And therein lies the struggle. I'm 100% on board with the freedoms, previously available to all Americans, that now exist in large measure in places that seem to be completely unlivable to me from a weather standpoint. My ability to deal with it was much higher when I was younger and skiing every winter weekend but now, yeah, can't do it. For sure there are plenty who don't feel like I do, and that's great for them...maybe I'm a little jealous that I'm not willing to make that compromise.

Reality though is that those choices may be forced on me if the state keeps heading down the road it is. I'm also not willing to compromise on many things as far as my rights are concerned so it's a constant internal dialog.

Completely agree.

I fully expect my job (trucking) and my wife's job (mortgage industry) are going to be negatively affected. Probably in a big way.

I'm trying to work as many hours as I can right now as I think they will be drastically cut soon.

I have been working as much as possible (left slinging guns to the masses in October) just in case everything shuts down. Don’t think new employer will be shut down, and wife’s job picked up the last time everything shut down (janitorial, they got super busy).

Other than the Karen’s on Facebook that you see in the comments on all the news articles, the general consensus with everyone I work with and deal with is they are tired of this shit. Hopefully there is some pushback next time he tries pushing something.

Hope your job and your wife’s job stay busy, too many kicks in the nuts already this year.

Didn’t Hillary exempt trucking from all laws back in March due to COVID 19? I would expect you to be fine with the amount of stuff Reno needs supplied by trucks, and you can do it while staying in the truck. Mortgages...well I’m about to refinance so a few more months might be all the housing industry sees before people board up and wait for Joe Biden to give us a free home.

Pretty sure there was pushback from industries enough during lockdowns that Steve decided he couldn’t just close businesses. He learned through so he restricted it so much it’s almost not worth operating AND he exempted retail. I laughed when I read a story about a video game arcade that serves beer being told they can’t do both at the same time due to Covid 19. It’s reserved for casinos.
