And supposedly they have been promised something…my fear is Washington’s bullshit Precedents.

“Second Amendment Supporters,

Once again the Rhode Island General Assembly will be considering several anti-gun bills before the close of the month. The heavily funded anti-gun organizations in RI have been promised they will be getting "something" this year despite our vocal majority. Current bills include but are not limited to the following:

A ban on most semiautomatic firearms
Banning shooting at gun clubs in the vicinity of a school or school related fields/grounds
Background checks to purchase ammunition and reloading components
A ban detachable magazines, written so poorly it bans mags of any capacity

You need to start emailing and calling your legislators until you get a response. The link below has a "Contact Your Legislators" tool which provides the contact info for your senator and representative, as well as bill information. “

I have already contacted a number of people about this and gave them a link to RIFOL.org.  Working on letters to relevant Committee members and especially the House and Senate Leadership.  If it is true that the Antis have been "promised "something"", only the Leadership is in a position to make such a "promise", so the Leadership teams in both House and Senate need to know, directly and in no uncertain terms, how unpopular this legislation is.

Suggest starting there, then begin e-mailing relevant Committee Members then your personal Sens and Reps. When contacting any of these politicians, make sure to mention that you are a Constituent (if so), and an election is forthcoming in November.

Your e-mails are vastly more useful if you are a Constituent of one of the members of the Leadership teams, and/or a member of a Committee that is reviewing these Bills.  Use all the leverage available to you.

According to ProJo, Bills outlawing "Assault Weapons" and "Hi-Cap Mags" are both still "live" in the House and could be brought to a vote most any time.  Apparently, all other bills must go through House Jud committee.

Identical Bills (and all others) in the Senate must still go through Committee.  Make sure the relevant House and Senate Committee Judiciary members know your opinion of all bills, and also your Senator/Rep.

Making sure the House and Senate Leadership Teams know your opinion might make a difference as to whether the Bills get out of Committee.

That is correct, crazy lady from EG used some bullshit rule they allowed last year to grab those to bills and bring them straight to the floor, as they went through committee last year.

Evidently this is now available to all members of the house now.
