Anywhere local say STL or St.Charles where a trust worthy gunsmith can work on a 30-30.  Wanting to have the action cleaned up, tapped for a scope mount and maybe the barrel threaded ? Don’t mind sending it off to a shop that does this more often but thought I’d ask local first.   Appreciate the help.

What manufacturer of 30-30 is this. The Winchesters and their store brands use side scope mounts since -- forever. Marlins and their store brands from 1965 are already receiver tapped(my WesternField) is anyway.

The new Mossberg and Rossi, don't know anything about.

It’s a marlin 336 I believe.   Just has irons on it.

Appreciate everyone taking the time to post and offer help.  My marlin is a model 336A.   It has the waffle top which was made before scopes became popular I suppose.  This article briefly talks about it.   After reading that it has me second guessing whether I should do it or not.   https://www.rifleshootermag.com/editorial/marlin-336a-lever-action-waffle-top/388547

If its got the waffle top, then don't do it. They're collectible and worth a bit more than normal 336's.
