Maybe they'll not run the AC like the last time saturnsport8K and I were there.

I do wish I'd bought a couple rubber dogshit gags the last time I was there. Lotsa cheap laffs. Very realistic-looking.

That's sad. Go to the largest show in the state and lament you didn't buy any fake dog-doo.

Pretty much no desire to go whatsoever.

That's funny, and I don't even like Krispy Kreme.  I do miss the days when gun shows were fun to go to and you could find treasures and even bargains amongst the tables of stuff.

I miss Ken Berkshire (?) I think that was his name. He was the go-to gun show vendor who sold powder, primers, and projectiles. His table was a fixture at the SCACA shows and maybe some MLK shows up until around 2004 or so. He gave it up said it was no longer profitable.

Nice guy and his prices were good.

I've still got some bags of Georgia Arms ammo including their old "Deer Stopper" rounds.  I've shot thousands of rounds of their stuff, I bought a ton of 9mm and .45acp when I was shooting competition and didn't have access to reloading equipment anymore.  I can't recall ever having any issues with it and it was affordable.

I've got maybe 50 rounds of that left (I think they were around 1400fps) and less than a box of the old Speer 158gr SJSP (I think they're listed at 1450fps).  They are two of my favorite rounds and definitely have some thump to them.

I know gun shows are usually pretty lame in the last decade or so, but would this one be worth the 1-1/2 hour drive up? I’ve never been, but if it’s comparable to the Jamil or State Fairgrounds show, I’d be interested in paying a visit next time.

Greenville shows are the same as Jamil only larger.

If I'm not mistaken there's a MLK show in Columbia in 2 weeks.

If you really want a step down there's a show in Scumter July 31st (great American promotions).

Except without Jamil's olfactory ambiance of stale tobacco smoke and cat pee.

Actually the TD center's main exhibition hall has a 'nose' all it's own. Slightly reminiscent of Jamil but milder.

I absolutely miss the only gun show held at the restored R.O.B. (Ragsdale Old Building) in Lake City.

I think the two TD center shows that I hit were in the fall and winter.  Come to think of it, it did remind me of an old ice arena.  But I think the requisite b.o. was from the gun show crowd and not hockey teams.

Summertime gun show B.O. has a piquance and subtle character all its own.

There’s a Mike Kent show in Charleston/Ladson next weekend as well.

The last time I was at a Ladson show (probably around 1999) it was summer and I was wearing sandals. I parked my vehicle, and in the process of stepping out planted my sandal-clad left foot into a fire ant mound.

At one time I had an idea to have a custom-printed shirt made for wearing to gun shows.

Black with huge white lettering with some sort of pithy statement such as "OFFICIAL GUN SHOW CROP DUSTER", "NOT TODAY MR. ATF MAN", or "WHAT'S THAT SMELL?"

"FUCK AMMO PRICES I RELOAD" is probably a no-go.
